Nekker Mill

Here we present in this section a new way of teaching the decks, where we will talk about its core and then about the number of construction alternatives with respect to the standard version.

In general, the strength of this deck is in the incredible amount of points that our Nekkers accumulate, because we will play rounds so long that our Nekkers are going to be able to be boosted up to 25-26 points, reaching about 31 points.

Core

First we are going to talk about the core of our deck, and later we will talk about the possible alternatives to it:

We start by Golden. We have the core that makes this version special: Avallac'h and Renew, which will lengthen the rounds and against Hyperthin decks as dwarves or spies will get to leave them without cards, as well as make our Nekkers grow, because we will have up to a total of 4 more turns in which our Vran Warriors will be consuming; and Ge'els, which will allow us to access them, in a kind of Royal Decree something more versatile since it will also give us the option of getting silver cards, placing the other card that we didn’t choose at the top of our deck.

Let's talk about our Silver. Toad Prince will give us a great tempo, thin and also allows us to draw other cards, making a perfect combo with Ge'els; Shadow will give us a way to draw our Nekkers if they have not appeared in our hand, and will allow us to put a second Nekker in the final round; Alghoul, another consumes that with the current meta is very valuable, because it allows us to consume from both cemeteries and to remove resurrect options from the Dwarven Skirmisher in dwarfs; and the Monster Nest, a versatile card that could give us Barbegazi, if we want to put carryover on the field; a possible Ghoul, to consume something big in our cemetery, or a Drowner if we needed to move something from the enemy field.

The Bronze core is typical of Nekker Spam: 3 Nekkers, which are our main win condition once it would be copied by the 3 Nekkers Warriors; 3 Slyzards, which give us thinning and also count as consume for our Nekkers; and 3 Vran Warriors, which will give us tempo and points for those Nekkers.

Alternatives

As you can see, we have left some gaps in the list of the core, in order to talk about the possible alternatives that you can put into the construction of your deck.

In Golden we have a flexible slot, which can be occupied by:

  1. Regis Higher Vampire: my favorite option, and that reinforces our idea of mill. In addition, how we will have about 9 Nekkers, it will be 9 additional points this consumption does.

  2. Kayran: an interesting option, a golden one that you will play for a wonderful 18 points, plus its consumption, but considering the rise to the bronzes value is a little weaker. Even so, it’s excellent to remove some engines.

  3. Caretaker: keeping in mind that current meta is dominated by Dwarves and SK Bears, we have juicy objectives to resurrect in the rival cemetery, also denying them their value.

  4. Phoenix: tempo, while we resurrect a Forktail, giving us two additional consumptions; as well as a Slyzard, adding thinning to the deck.

In Silver ones we have two flexible slots, which we can use with:

  1. Roach: although if we put it, be careful because there is a bug with Avallac'h that if we draw it, it will enter the field, leaving us with one less card.

  2. Imperial Manticore / Olgierd: one of these two cards is a must in the deck, because we need an objective to consume with the toad. Both are very good options, depending on whether we prefer the Olgierd carryover or the Manticore points.

  3. Summoning Circle: copy the opponent spies; no need to say more. Even so, I don’t like enough in this patch since it can copy tokens.

  4. Operator: not recommended, but used to copy Nekkers.

  5. She-Troll: This will consume a Nekker from our deck and activate his Deathwish, letting us to put a Nekker on the field.

  6. Devana Runestone: not recommended, but if we don’t have a better option, it can give us useful things.

In Bronzes ones, there are not many options because it is the core of the deck, but even so we can choose:

  1. Archgriffin: card that we would use in case the meta shows bad weather and we need an umbrella.

  2. Forktail: my preferred option and the one I currently use. It gives a lot of tempo and two consumptions.

  3. Barbegazi: it gives resilient and an additional consumption.

Gameplay

It's a pretty simple deck to play; our game is based on something very simple: play Nekker, copy Nekker, buff Nekker and consume Nekker.

The mulligan it is quite simple: we will try to draw a Nekker, a Shadow and our Nekker Warriors, in such a way that we can start with the deck engine.

So to speak, the priority of Mulligan is: Multiple copies of Nekker (except against decks with Peter / Mardroeme / Jade/ Artefact Compression) < Forktail. We will also try to find our Avallac'h, which allows us to extend the game.

Our plan of R1 is simple, we will play a Nekker, we will start to copy it, and from there we will use the consume engines, mainly in the form of Vran Warrior, in such a way that our other Nekker Warriors are used by the Slyzards, thus obtaining additional points for our Nekkers.

We should not be afraid to go 2 cards underneath if we can win R1, because this is a deck with the capacity to make 2-0 and deny the daily round rewards quite strong. When we need urgently the tempo, we can use the Forktail and consume the Nekkers to pull another copy.

As how to play our Avallac'h and Renew, we don’t must play them at the beginning of the round, in order to let our opponent to thin on his own and not let him too many tutors in his hand, which will make them suspicious. Regis Higher Vampire will also do this work.

In R2 and R3, our goal is to overwhelm our rivals with our tempo, thanks to the consumption of our Nekkers with the Forktail and with the own Arachas Queen, that being immune, is free of effects like Letho: Kingslayer or Menno.

We must be careful with the Scorch, because our deck is very vulnerable to them, but they should not be a big problem.
